WE CAN DO IT

SO HOW DOES MODESTO CLIMB OUT OF THE ARMPIT CATEGORY?

I am ashamed of what Modesto has become in my lifetime. I was raised in the 50,s and the 60’s in Modesto. Modesto had 18,000 people when I was born in a hospital that no longer exists downtown. Life was simple and safe back then. We had no Norteno gangs, and no Sureno gangs. When kids got in fights after school, all they would get is a black eye or a fat lip. Fights were always one on one. There was a sense of honor back then. People die almost every week now. Gangs need to be eliminated from our community. We need to take our town back from the thugs.

We are thought of by the “Outside World” as being a community of undereducated, underachieving, non motivated people. Basically, the outside world is correct about Modesto. We need to change this. We as a community need to change this. This will not be inexpensive to fix, but we will never succeed until we change the makeup of our population. We need to invest in Modesto’s future, by providing the best education locally. We need to be better in the future, in order to make up for our deficiencies in the past. Our children must be better educated in the subjects that will allow them to succeed in the future. We need to educate future Engineers, Physicians, Lawyers, Scientists, Mathematicians etc, so that Modesto can diversify its workforce and economy. Modesto needs to spend more on education, not less. We waste millions of dollars on expensive consultants every year. We should be spending this money on our future, and provide our children with a superior education. A system of volunteers from the community could assist our children in achieving their educational goals.

We need to start finding ways of lowering our cost of living in Modesto. Modesto is trying to attract businesses to Modesto, when our electric rates are 40% higher than a Bay Area community serviced by PG&E. How the HELL are we supposed to attract business to town with our electric rates so high? Until the MID can return our rates to a competitive level, we are stuck with our lack of new business moving to town. The “Good Old Boy” network has driven Modesto onto the rocks, and we are floundering in the waves. For years, it is rumored that the Gallo Family has blocked all attempts of Modesto to grow out Maze Blvd 132. It seems like there is some movement to finally develop 132. Let’s finally get this job done. We need a business park to be built West of HWY 99 on 132. We need to make this park competitive, so that it will attract new businesses to Modesto. It also makes more sense to be building homes out 132 than where they plan to build homes out McHenry Blvd. Direct access to Interstate 5, or Hwy 99 from this location would make the location convenient for truck traffic. Since many of our residents work out of town, living on this side of town would make commuting to work far less time consuming.

We need to adequately advertise the positive things that we have to offer potential employers in Modesto. We need to simplify the process that is required for a new business to start up in Modesto. Modesto has a “Pain In The Ass” for many of it’s businesses. Many of these businesses have moved out of town in the last few years. This needs to change. StanCog, and the Alliance have basically failed us in their efforts to make Modesto a better place to live. So much money has been wasted in the past. This needs to change in order for Modesto to succeed.

The people of Modesto need to realize that they are being manipulated by “Big Money” people in Modesto that want to keep Modesto the way it is. Some of these people are so rich, that they use their money to control Modesto’s politicians. The Modesto Police, who exist on public pay, are actively involved in manipulating Modesto City Government. Their pay levels threaten the solvency of Modesto, much as Vallejo has experienced. Modesto’s largest real estate company has controlled local politics for decades. The tax payers have been subsidizing “Big Money” interests in Modesto at a time when every tax dollar is precious. We need to stop this. Modesto needs a newspaper that will print the truth about what is happening, instead of propping up their corrupt officials from manipulated elections. We need to elect home owners that will represent home owners and tax payers in Modesto. We should not be building any new homes in Modesto until our empty existing homes are filled. That should take quite a few years based on the number of homes that are still going through foreclosure.

Basically, Modesto needs to do an “About Face,” in order to pull out of the “Pissy Swamps. I think we can do it, but I am concerned that people like George Petrulakis, and Mike Zagaris will continue to exert their supreme control over Modesto. This control has been devastating to our community in the past. Just look at the hulk that is called Village One. It was supposed to be such a nice place to live……but then it was all “Smoke And Mirrors” brought to you by the people who really run Modesto. The tax payers paid the price for Village One. It looks like history is poised to repeat itself in Modesto. We will lose again.                Tux
